Description:

Sally Ploof Hunter Memorial Library is seeking an individual to fill the role of Library Clerk, part time (up to 10 hours/week). We are seeking a friendly, energetic, and highly motivated individual to provide excellent customer service to our patrons. 

Will Receive Training on: checking items in and out, library holds, processing materials, registering patrons, collecting fees, shelving and shelf maintenance. 

Primary Qualifications: 

Library Clerk Desired Knowledge and Skills: 

• Maintains confidentiality and privacy regarding patron personal information, including use of materials (books, movies, etc.), participation in library programs (activities) and services (copying, faxing,).
• Ability to relate courteously with the public and to maintain an effective working relationships with other employees. 
• Excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills. 
•  Proficient with basic electronics, computers, copier, scanner and fax machines.
• Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift 25lbs or more. 
• Ability to perform with minimal supervision, establish and maintain priorities, meet deadlines, exercise initiative, and make independent decisions. 
• Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously. 
• Ability to represent the library in a professional manner. 

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED, two-year degree preferred

• Previous Retail or Customer Service experience

• Ability to work both independently and with others

• Ability to interact successfully with a diverse customer base

• Commitment to quality public library standards and services

• Ability to be flexible and adapt to the current needs of the library.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, WordPress or Social Media Platforms a plus.

Specific duties of the Assistant may include but are not limited to:

• Opening and closing of the library.
• Welcome patrons, and assist with book locations and holds.
• Process incoming transit from NCLS (interlibrary loans).
• Answers telephone, fills patron requests via phone, takes detailed messages when needed.
• Assists on social media (Facebook).
• Helping with programs, updating displays, and bulletin boards.
• Records incoming monies, and donations.
• Assists Library Director as needed.

Salary and Benefits:
$15.72/hour. 10 hours per week. Will include nights and weekends.
